Jury Reporting Message for Virtual Petit jurors summoned for the weeks of May 6, 2024, and May 13, 2024, (JURY SERVICE IS FROM 8:30am -4:30pm).  Jurors summoned to report should watch the ON DEMAND video prior to their virtual reporting date. 

**THIS MESSAGE ONLY FOR JURORS WHO WERE DEFERRED TO A MONDAY. IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE A SUMMONS IN THE MAIL. PLEASE GO ABOUT YOUR NORMAL ROUTINE AS A NEW SUMMONS WILL BE ISSUED 6-8 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR NEXT REPORTING DATE.  THANK YOU.**

Confirmed jurors for week of May 6, 2024, will be sent a reporting email by May 3, 2024.

Confirmed jurors for week of May 13, 2024, will be sent a reporting email by May 10, 2024.

**Day one of service is virtual, unless noted as in-person service on the Friday reporting email.**

Jurors who are summonsed for a virtual appearance, please do not come to the courthouse or take the shuttle as your in-person presence is not needed on day one of your summoned date. 

All summoned Grand Jurors on May 17, 2024, and May 24, 2024, please be sure to complete all questions by logging on to www.njcourts.gov/mjs prior to your summoned date. 

Grand Jury selection on May 17, 2024, and May 24, 2024, will be virtual.  Please do not report to the courthouse. All virtual reporting information will be emailed to you. 

Confirmed Grand Jurors for May 17, 2024, will be sent an email on May 16, 2024.  Confirmed Grand Jurors for May 24, 2024, will be sent an email on May 23, 2024.  If you confirmed your status and did not receive an email containing ZOOM log in information, please reach out to jury management office via email, pasjurymgmt.mailbox@njcourts.gov.

Please be advised that jurors will not be able to confirm their service the Friday before their summons date. Please do not report to the courthouse unless notified by the court. If you have any questions, please email pasjurymgmt.mailbox@njcourts.gov

Jurors summoned for Petit Jury or Grand Jury please first log into www.njcourts.gov/mjs and confirm your service. You will then be sent a supplemental questionnaire, please fill out the supplemental questionnaire if a device or onboarding is needed. Please be assured your health is important to us. The Judiciary continues to monitor developments in the spread of the coronavirus and any potential impact on court operations. We are communicating regularly with the State Department of Health for guidance on any adjustments needed to protect the health and safety of jurors and other court users.  FREE Juror parking will be 387 Rifle Camp Road, Woodland Park, NJ. Shuttle transportation will be provided for CONFIRMED jurors only to and from this location. If you are a petit juror and did not receive an email notification regarding IN PERSON reporting instructions, PLEASE DO NOT REPORT TO THE ABOVE PARKING LOCATION.  Please email jury immediately before reporting.  Please be at 387 Rifle Camp Road, Woodland Park, NJ by 8:30am (shuttle will depart from that location at 8:45am sharp) If you miss the 8:45am shuttle, you will be responsible for finding your own parking accommodations near the courthouse, which will not be validated. Free Juror parking is for ALL confirmed jurors that received an IN-PERSON reporting email. If you did not receive an email, please contact the jury office via email and wait for a response from the jury team.

Use these instructions if your summons has a Participant ID (My Jury Service-MJS):

  • Do not set up a new account. An account is already set up for you.
  • Use the 10-digit Participant ID and 5-digit Zip Code from your summons to log in here
  • Your User ID is your 10 digit Participant ID (include all zeros. e.g. 0001234567)
  • Your Password is your 5 digit Zip Code

Welcome to jury duty. Jury Service is both an honor and a duty of citizenship. As a juror, you will have the opportunity to observe, participate in, and increase your knowledge about the operation of our court system and the judicial branch of government. Those who serve find it to be a rewarding experience and we anticipate that you will also. Thank you for serving.

Dress Code

Jurors reporting for service should wear clothing appropriate for an appearance in court. Shorts, t-shirts, uniforms or clothing containing statements or offensive symbols are not permitted. All hats must be removed when in a courtroom. Comfortable clothing is also advisable.

Courtroom Regulations

  • Cell phones, pagers and electronic devices must be turned off in the courtroom.
  • You are not permitted to read newspapers or other materials in the courtroom.
  • You are not permitted to bring food or beverages into the courtroom.

If You Are Selected As A Juror

  • The trial judge will instruct you regarding the trial schedule, reporting times, any recesses, lunch arrangements, etc.
  • The judge's instructions will take precedence over any general instructions given in the assembly area.
  • You must wear your juror badge at all times, including during lunch.

Other Factors Relating To Your Juror Service

  • The daily fee for petit jurors is $5 for the first 3 days and $40 for each day after 3 days.
  • The daily fee for grand jurors is $5 for each day of service.
  • Checks are processed on Friday.
  • Your juror check will generally be received within 3 weeks.
  • Check with your employer or your union representative, or read your employee handbook if you have questions about whether you will be compensated by your employer while serving as a juror.

Employment Protection

Be aware that N.J.S.A. 2B:20-17 protects jurors from employment related retaliation and provides for the possibility of both criminal and civil sanctions.

Term of Service

The term of service for Petit Jurors is as follows: Monday: 2 days or the duration of 1 trial. Tuesday: 2 days or to the duration of one trial. Thursday: 1 day or to the duration of one trial. If you are in the jury selection process at the end of your last day of service or if you have been selected for a trial, you will serve until completion of that selection process or the duration of that trial. If you are not involved in a jury selection at the end of your last day, you will be dismissed provided there are no unexpected trial demands for jurors.

Smoking Policy

The courthouse is a non-smoking facility. If you leave the courthouse to smoke, you must inform jury staff so that we are aware of your location at all times.

Failure to Report

Individuals who fail to respond to a jury summons or fail to report when summoned may be subject to penalties including fines. If you have forgotten to appear as scheduled for jury service, please contact the Jury Management Office immediately at 973-653-2980 .
