Burlington Vicinage to Celebrate National Adoption Day

The Burlington Vicinage will celebrate its 16th annual Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 18 at 8:45 a.m. at the Burlington County Courts Facility, 49 Rancocas Road, Mount Holly.

Superior Court Judges Lisa James-Beavers and retired Judge John L. Call Jr. will finalize adoptions for 10 children. The celebration will open with remarks from Assignment Judge Jeanne T. Covert, Family Division Presiding Judge Edward W. Hoffman, and Burlington County Surrogate Brian Carlin.

Breakfast will be served during the opening ceremony at the courthouse. A luncheon for the children and their families will be held at The Funplex in Mount Laurel after the individual adoption proceedings. Each child will receive a toy bear and gift bag during the proceeding.

“We are so pleased to be back in person to celebrate this year’s Adoption Day. It is a time to focus on one of the best events in the courthouse – the confirmation of forever families for so many children in the county. We wish for a bright and promising future for each and every one of these children and their new families,” Judge Covert said.

The vicinage’s Adoption Day celebration is co-hosted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the Court Appointed Special Advocates program, and the Burlington County Surrogate’s Office.

National Adoption Day is an annual event that celebrates the families who choose to adopt, while raising public awareness of the need for adoptive homes. Those interested in becoming a licensed foster/adoptive parent should call 1-877-NJFOSTER.

Though adoption hearings are closed to the public, arrangements can be made for reporters to interview willing families after the proceedings. For more information, contact Sandra Lebron at 609-288-9500, ext. 38124.
