Mercer Vicinage to Celebrate National Adoption Day

The Mercer Vicinage, in conjunction with the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency and the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Mercer County, will host its 15th annual Adoption Day program on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Mercer County Civil Courthouse, 175 S. Broad St., Trenton.

Superior Court Judges Thomas J. Walls Jr. and Russell Wojtenko Jr. will finalize the adoptions. After the proceedings, the families will enjoy a breakfast buffet.

The celebration will continue Saturday, Nov. 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Terhune Orchards, 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton. Adopting families and their children will enjoy snacks and activities provided by New Jersey Angels, CASA of Mercer County, the Mercer County Bar Association, and Terhune Orchards.

National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states join to finalize thousands of adoptions. The event seeks to raise awareness of the importance of adoption and to recognize caregivers who have chosen to open their homes to children in need.

Although adoption proceedings are closed to the public, arrangements will be made for reporters to interview willing families after their proceedings conclude. Contact Samantha Brodzik at 609-571-4200, ext. 74434 for more information.
