Somerset/Hunterdon/Warren Vicinage to Celebrate Adoption Day

The Somerset/Hunterdon/Warren Vicinage will hold its annual Adoption Day program on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Hunterdon County Justice Center, 65 Park Ave., Flemington.

Superior Court Judge Julie Marino will preside over the adoptions of two children at 1 p.m. Eight other children, whose adoptions were finalized recently, also will be recognized during the event.

A reception with lunch, activities, and family photos will be held in the jury assembly room following the proceedings. Each family will receive gift baskets that include gift cards, games, books, teddy bears, and blankets.

The vicinage’s Adoption Day program is co-hosted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency, the Court Appointed Special Advocates program for Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren counties, and the surrogate’s offices in Somerset and Hunterdon counties.

National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states come together to finalize thousands of adoptions of children, and to celebrate families who adopt. Those interested in becoming a licensed foster/adoptive parent should call 1-877-NJFOSTER.

Although adoption hearings are closed to the public, arrangements will be made for reporters to interview willing families upon conclusion of the adoption proceedings.
