Jason Corter Named Director of Trial Court Services
Acting Administrative Director Michael J. Blee named Jason Corter director of Trial Court Services for the New Jersey Judiciary, effective June 14.
Corter, trial court administrator for the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage, succeeds Jennifer Perez.
Corter will oversee the Judiciary’s four case management divisions: criminal, civil, family, and municipal, as well as the automated trial court services unit and the programs and procedures units.
He also will play a key role in coordinating with local vicinage management to ensure the effective implementation of statewide initiatives, including the application of new technology and the expanded use of court services by self-represented litigants.
“Trial court services plays a crucial role in supporting the operation and administration of our trial courts. In his new role as trial court services director, Jason Corter brings more than two decades of dedicated service to the Judiciary. His extensive knowledge of court operations, combined with his experience as a trial court administrator, position him well to implement and direct programs that will benefit the Judiciary and the residents of New Jersey,” Judge Blee said.
Corter began his 24 years of service with the Judiciary as an investigator with the Burlington Vicinage, where he also held the positions of probation officer and court services supervisor. In 2009, Corter moved to the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage where he first served as assistant family division manager for two years before being promoted to family division manager for the vicinage. He has served as trial court administrator for the vicinage since 2016.
While at the Judiciary, Corter has served on the Criminal Justice Reform Committee, as co-chair of the Race and the Courts Working Group, and as chair and co-chair of Administrative Council.
Corter earned his bachelor's degree from Coastal Carolina University and his master’s degree from Seton Hall University.
“I am deeply honored to step into the role of director of trial court services for the New Jersey Judiciary. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the Administrative Director and the Chief Justice for their trust and support. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated team to advance the administration of justice, enhance access to our courts, and ensure that every individual who comes before us is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect,” Corter said.
