Atlantic County Recovery Court to Celebrate Graduates

The Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage will recognize the successes of nine graduates from the recovery court program in Atlantic County during a ceremony on Tuesday, June 17 at 10 a.m. in the jury assembly room of the Atlantic County Criminal Courthouse, 4997 Unami Blvd., Mays Landing.

The ceremony marks two milestones for the participants: the culmination of their journeys from addiction to recovery, and a fresh start in life without the stigma of a criminal record.

“The mission of recovery court is to stop the abuse of alcohol and other drugs and related criminal activity. Our recovery court is unique in the criminal justice environment because we build close collaborative relationships between professionals in the criminal justice and drug treatment fields. As the Atlantic County recovery court judge, I head a dynamic team of court staff, attorneys, probation officers, probation supervisors, substance abuse evaluators, and treatment professionals who are truly dedicated and work together to support and monitor our participants’ recovery,” said Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Wilson, the vicinage’s recovery court judge.

Assignment Judge Susan Sheppard, Presiding Criminal Division Judge Bernard DeLury, and retired Recovery Court Judge Mark Sandson will address the graduates.

Judge Wilson will sign expungement orders for all eligible graduates.

“I am proud to witness the determination and growth of our participants as they work toward lasting recovery. I feel truly fortunate to work alongside such an amazing team whose unwavering dedication, compassion, and collaboration make meaningful changes possible every day.” said Vicky Golas, coordinator of the recovery court program in Atlantic County.
