Union Vicinage to Hold Recovery Court Graduation Ceremony
The Union Vicinage will hold a graduation ceremony for 14 participants of its recovery court program on Monday, June 23 at 1:30 p.m. on the first floor of the tower building of the Union County Courthouse, 2 Broad St., Elizabeth.
Superior Court Judge Dara Aquila Govan will preside and acknowledge the participants’ achievements in recovery.
The Judiciary’s recovery court program operates within the Superior Court to address nonviolent drug-related cases. The rigorous program requires completion of five phases of drug and alcohol treatment that includes intensive probation supervision, frequent drug testing, and court appearances. This level of supervision permits the program to support the recovery process but also allows supervisors to react quickly to impose appropriate therapeutic sanctions or to reinstate criminal proceedings when participants do not comply.
For more information about the vicinage’s recovery court program or the commencement ceremony, contact vicinage Recovery Court Coordinator Mathew Hagler at 908-787-1650 ext. 21071.
