The Monmouth Vicinage, in partnership with the Monmouth Bar Association, will hold its annual Opening of the Courts, Memorial Service and Attorney Swearing-In Ceremony on Monday, Oct. 27 at the Monmouth County Courthouse, 71 Monument Park, Freehold.

The public ceremony will begin with the swearing in of new attorneys at 8:30 a.m. by Assignment Judge Marc C. Lemieux in courtroom 307 West on the third floor of the courthouse. The ceremony also will be viewable via Zoom.

Judge Lemieux will preside.  This year, attendees will honor retired Monmouth Vicinage Assignment Judge Alvin Yale Milberg and retired Superior Court Judge Robert Coogan, as well as attorneys Harry S. Evans, Vera Fedoroff, William J. Gearty, William Gregory Marriott, Robert E. “Bob” McLeod, Bernard M. Reilly, Robert W. Ruggieri, Thomas S. Smith Jr., William Randoph Smith, Gerald N. “Jerry” Sonnenblick, Brooks Von Arx Sr., and Richard Joseph Weber.

“We will come together to honor and remember the late, respected members of our legal community whose dedication to justice, integrity, and the rule of law has left a profound and meaningful legacy in our county. This special event will also include the swearing-in of new attorneys, marking the continuation of that legacy as they join the noble ranks of the legal profession,” Judge Lemieux said.

The bar association will hold a reception following the ceremony in its lawyers lounge on the lower level of the courthouse.
