Monmouth Vicinage to Celebrate National Adoption Day
The Monmouth Vicinage will celebrate National Adoption Day on Friday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. when three adoptions will be finalized at the Monmouth County Courthouse, 71 Monument Park, Freehold.
Assignment Judge Marc C. Lemieux, Family Division Presiding Judge Robin Kurmin-English, and Superior Court Judge Susan Schroeder Clark will give remarks. The children will be treated to breakfast and family activities before proceedings begin.
“National Adoption Day is one of the most joyful days in our courthouse. It is a privilege to celebrate the families who open their hearts and homes to children in need. At the same time, we use this day to recognize that many children across our state are still waiting for permanent, loving families. We hope the day’s celebrations inspire others to consider adoption and the life-changing impact it can have,” Judge Lemieux said.
The program is co-hosted by the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P), the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office, and Court Appointed Special Advocates of Monmouth County.
Information about the adoption process will be available. Attendees will be able to speak with staff from the surrogate’s office and DCP&P about adopting children in foster care. Those interested in becoming a licensed foster/adoptive parent should call 1-877-NJFOSTER.
National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states come together to finalize thousands of adoptions and celebrate families who adopt. The event seeks to raise awareness of the need for adoptive homes and to show appreciation for caregivers who choose to adopt.
