Passaic Vicinage to Host Panel on Rule of Law for Law Day

The Passaic Vicinage will celebrate Law Day with a presentation by state and local bar representatives and a panel discussion on Friday, May 1 at the Passaic County Administration Building.

Superior Court Judge LaToyia K. Jenkins will open the event with remarks on the significance of Law Day.

Representatives from the Passaic County Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association will address this year’s Law Day theme, “The Rule of Law and the American Dream.”

A panel discussion about the Law Day theme will include attorney Omid S. Irani, Montclair State University professor Jason Williams, Paterson police Lt. Sharon Rountree-Easton, and judiciary law clerks Shirin Asgari and Sean Liu.

Local high school choirs will perform musical selections and winners of Law Day- related mock trial, poetry, and poster competitions will be announced.

The Law Day program is sponsored by the Passaic Vicinage Law Day Committee and the Passaic County Bar Association.

Law Day is a national event established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1958 as a “day of national dedication to the principles of government under the law.”

The event, which begins at 9 a.m., will be held in the Commissioners’ Room on the second floor of county administration building, 401 Grand St., Paterson.
