Burlington Vicinage to Hold Monthlong Law Day Celebration

The Burlington Vicinage will hold a monthlong Law Day celebration with panel discussions and school visits to highlight the national theme, “The Rule of Law and the American Dream.”

The Association of Black Women Lawyers of New Jersey (ABWL) will participate in a discussion moderated by Superior Court Judge Lisa James-Beavers on Friday, May 15 after a mock trial with students from Willingboro High School.

The Denbo-Crichton Elementary School in Pemberton will participate in a mock trial at the courthouse on Thursday, May 21, with the students acting in the roles of counsel and jury.

On Thursday, May 28, students from Gertrude Folwell School in Mount Holly will be summoned to “jury service,” as part of the Law Day program “Juror for a Day,” when the vicinage’s Ombudsman Office will present a mock trial.

The fifth-grade class of Sacred Heart School in Mount Holly will participate in an art project with the vicinage, illustrating their understanding of this year’s theme. The project will run from May 1 through May 15 with an awards ceremony on Friday, May 29.

The Law Day events are cosponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation and made possible with funding from the IOLTA Fund of the New Jersey State Bar.
